Candle Care
Candle Care Instructions
To ensure the best experience and longevity of your candle, please follow these simple care instructions:
1. Initial Burn
- Duration: For the first burn, allow the candle to melt across the entire surface to prevent tunneling. This may take 2-4 hours depending on the candle size.
- Purpose: Ensuring a full melt pool helps the candle burn evenly in the future.
2. Trim the Wick
- Before Each Burn: Trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6 mm) before lighting the candle.
- Reason: This prevents the flame from burning too high, which can cause excessive soot, uneven burning, and limit the burn time of your candle.
3. Burn Time
- Maximum Time: Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Purpose: Prolonged burning can cause the wick to mushroom and produce soot.
4. Extinguishing the Candle
- Method: Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid using the lid to extinguish the candle as this can damage the container and the scent.
- Purpose: Properly extinguishing the candle reduces smoke and helps maintain the fragrance.
5. Placement and Safety
- Surface: Always place the candle on a heat-resistant, stable surface.
- Environment: Keep away from drafts, pets, and children.
- Spacing: Ensure at least 3 inches (7.5 cm) between burning candles to prevent them from melting each other.
6. Storage
- Location: Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Purpose: Proper storage helps maintain the candle’s color, scent, and integrity.
7. End of Life
- Disposal: When 1/2 inch (12 mm) of wax remains at the bottom, discontinue use.
- Purpose: Burning the candle until the end can cause overheating and damage the surface it’s on.
By following these care instructions, you’ll enjoy a beautiful, long-lasting candle experience every time.
